HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Oahu residents who say they are upset with the Hawaiian Electric Company's restrictive rules on solar panel installations are planning a protest in Downtown Honolulu on Wednesday.

Demonstrators say they want HECO to devise a plan that would speed up the installations, especially for homeowners.

Last week, the state ordered HECO to develop a better strategy to handle solar requests. The utility has 120 days to comply with the orders.

The protest is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
