(Hawaii News Now) - Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death in young athletes and the third leading cause of death in children. Every three days, one high school-aged athlete in the United States suffers SCA. The new Hawaii Heart Youth Screening Program provides free screenings for cardiac disease associated with a risk of SCA. Our experts will also train participants to perform CPR and operate automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to assist others in case of an emergency.
