PEARL CITY, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Soldiers from the 311th Signal Command (Theater), head quartered at Fort Shafter, took part in Fern Elementary School's annual Drug Free Schools/ Jump Rope for the Heart Field Day on Wednesday morning.

About a dozen soldiers attended the field day with their vehicles and equipment. The soldiers joined students in tug-o-war games, an obstacle course, and explored several tactical vehicles.

The soldiers provided students with supplies such as camouflage netting, an EZ-Up shelter, and several tactical vehicles on static display.

The annual event is part of the school's initiative to promote an active and healthy lifestyle. The event also aims to introduce students to professional opportunities, and positive role models.

This is the third consecutive year the soldiers were invited to participate in the annual field day, to support the positive experience of outdoor activity for youth.
