Brown water advisory posted for parts of Maui

MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Brown Water advisory has been issued for Honokahua Bay on Maui. The Clean Water Branch is investigating the cause of the brown water.

In the meantime, the public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, sewer manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals, and associated flood debris.

Turbid water runoff has been known to attract sharks due to possible dead animals being washed into the ocean. If coastal waters are brown, stay out.
