HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The state Department of Transportation (DOT) advises Honolulu and Kalihi residents of an expected increase in aircraft traffic over the area due to airfield maintenance work at the Honolulu International Airport.
Runway 8R-26L will be closed for repaving work through the end of October. Runway work will take place at night.
During this time, flight patterns will be modified, resulting in increased air traffic over the Honolulu.
The DOT says about 10 fighter jets flew over Honolulu and made a lot of noise Wednesday because runways were closed at Kaneohe Bay.
