Felon escapes through work furlough program; returns on his own
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Police have an Oahu prisoner with a lengthy rap sheet back in custody after he escaped from the Oahu Community Correctional Center on Friday afternoon.
Inmate Bronson Keola Gouveia returned to OCCC on his own early Saturday morning at 2:50 a.m. Sheriffs and the Honolulu Police Department were notified of his return.
Authorities say the 35-year-old left OCCC to go to his work furlough program, but he failed to return Friday night.
Gouveia has multiple felony convictions, including robbery, assault, weapons and drug charges. He had been in prison since 2009, and was going to be eligible for parole next year.
