HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Multiple airlines have announced cancellations or rescheduling of Hawaii-bound flights in light of the impending effects of Tropical Storm Flossie.
Alaska Airlines canceled all West Coast flights to Hawaii that would ordinarily take off before noon Pacific time, a move that means significant interruption of airlift to neighbor islands. For example, this meant no Alaska Airlines service to Maui Monday morning from either Portland or Sacramento.
American Airlines canceled two Honolulu flights from Los Angeles as well as its morning flight to Honolulu from Dallas-Ft. Worth.
United Airlines canceled its Honolulu flights from Denver and Guam, Flight 422 today from Maui to San Francisco, as well as the flights listed below:
- 218 to Chicago
- 200 to Houston
- 144 to Washington Dulles
- 14 to Newark
- 1227 to Los Angeles
- 769 to Denver
- 296 to San Francisco
- 1233 to Los Angeles
- 235 to San Francisco
On Sunday night the Canadian discount carrier WestJet did the first cancellation, scratching service from Vancouver.
Alaska, American and US Airways all issued announcements that they would waive change and cancellation fees for Flossie-related travel changes.
