HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Hawaiian Airlines flight that experienced a problem during landing was rerouted from Kahului to Honolulu on Thursday.

The diversion was reportedly because of an issue with the plane's flaps, which did not come down far enough as the it approached Kahului.

"I noticed that we didn't drop low enough, and then [the pilot] kept going and then he circled out around Kahoolawe, and then I saw him climbing," said Ginger Prince, who was on the flight. "they said they were having navigational difficulties, and they were being diverted to Honolulu, where there's a longer runway."

The plane landed in Honolulu amid emergency vehicles, and passengers were flown back to Maui a short time later.
