The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating after a tour helicopter made a hard landing about a block away from the Hilo Airport Thursday afternoon.
Photos sent to Hawaii News Now show the helicopter lying on its side in an empty field. Moments before the hard landing, FAA officials say the pilot declared an emergency due to engine failure.
Five people were on board when the helicopter went down. There is no official word about possible injuries.
