HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Lt Governor Shan Tsutsui signed Senate Bill 1256 Tuesday, which appropriates $400,000 to the support of the Pacific International Space Center for Exploration Systems, or PISCES.
PISCES is based on the Big Island, and was started as a joint project between staffers at UH Hilo and NASA. Since then, it has grown, and taken on a life of its own.
Now, with funding, supporters are hoping PISCES, and the state of Hawaii can be forerunners in aerospace research and industry.
Funds from SB 1256 will be used for everything from funding existing positions, to creating new ones, to purchasing new equipment.
