Majam breaks UH record in loss

The No. 20/23 University of Hawai`i softball team fell to Nevada, 11-9 in their final game of the Easton Desert Classic in Henderson, Nev. on Sunday afternoon. In the game, senior centerfielder Kelly Majam launched two home runs and crossed the plate three times, to first tie and then break the UH career record for runs scored with her 188.

Majam--who already held the UH career records in home runs (58) and walks (128)--passed former UH All-American Tia Morenz's record of 187 in four seasons from 1998-98. Majam has a team-high four home runs this season--all coming in this past tournament in Nevada and she's been walked a team-high 11 times.

HENDERSON, NEVADA (HawaiiNewsNow) - UH's Kesterson (0-1) suffered the loss throwing 5.1 innings. She gave up seven runs on nine hits with two walks and two strike outs. Carlos, who started and ended the game, threw 0,2 innings giving up four runs with a walk.

Hawai`i returns home and has a week off before beginning a 21-game homestand in the month of March. Next up for the 'Bows is a single game vs. Memphis on Feb. 27 before starting the Bank of Hawaii Invitational, March 1-3 with Western Kentucky, Campbell, and Memphis participating.
