Large boat found on North Shore may be tsunami debris

KAHUKU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Another large piece of apparent debris from the Japanese tsunami nearly two years ago has washed up on an Oahu shore.
Kahuku resident, Scott Bady, found a 20-foot boat resting upside-down Wednesday morning near Malaekahana.
The boat has Japanese writing on it and is covered with barnacles similar to other tsunami debris that has come ashore in recent months.
"I was shocked to be honest. I couldn't believe something so big would wash up," said Bady. "I've seen the small stuff washing up for some time now and tons of bottles with the barnacles on them but again, nothing like this."
The state has been notified and says they will send a team to investigate and confirm if this is tsunami debris.
