Sen. Inouye remains hospitalized, is "fighting respiratory complications"

WASHINGTON D.C. (HawaiiNewsNow) - Sen. Daniel Inouye remains in hospitalized in a Washington-area hospital on Sunday evening.
The senator's office released the following statement Sunday night:
"Senator Inouye remains hospitalized at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He is stable and communicating with his doctors and family. Unfortunately, he is fighting respiratory complications as work is being done to stabilize his supplemental oxygen requirements. At this time, there is no time table for his release."
"His family and loved ones are overwhelmed by the outpouring of affection and good wishes for his recovery. We ask that the people of Hawaii and the nation keep the Senator in their thoughts and prayers."
Doctors are monitoring the 88-year-old Democrat's intake of oxygen and trying to regulate it.
Inouye is the president pro tempore of the United States Senate, third in the presidential line of succession.
He is the Senate's longest serving active senator, now completing his 50th year in the chamber.
