Local Connection: PBS Hawaii

Aloha, I'm Rick Blangiardi, General Manager of Hawaii News Now.  Everyone knows that I'm a pretty competitive guy, so what I'm about to say may surprise you.

I'm asking you to support a television station that is NOT one of ours.  Have I lost my mind?  No--because the station I'm asking you to support is Hawaii's only Public Television station—PBS Hawaii.

They don't compete with us for ad dollars or even ratings.  But they do provide an essential service through programs that educate and enrich the people of Hawaii.

To paraphrase the slogan for the Nation Endowment for the Arts—a great state deserves a great Public Television Station.  PBS Hawaii is that station, but they're about to lose their home.  Their current lease is running out, and they need funds to build a new and permanent station.

If they don't raise enough for a new building, they'll be without a home, and everyone will lose.  So make a contribution to PBS Hawaii's New Home Campaign at pbshawaii.org/newhome   Mahalo.
