Hawaii's oldest person dies at 108

HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) - The woman believed to be Hawaii's oldest living person has died at the age of 108.

Take Yazaki, a descendent of the Japanese emperor Bidatsu, moved to Hawaii when she was 10 years old. She later raised a large family over on the Big Island.

Yazaki's great granddaughter tells Hawaii News Now she passed away on Sunday at her care home in Hilo.

Hawaii's oldest living person is now believed to be Florence Kamei of Lihue, Kauai who turned 108 last week.
