Mayoral candidates make final fundraising push

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - With three days before the primary election, Honolulu mayoral candidates are making a final fundraising push.

Flings with the state Campaign Spending Commission today show that former acting Mayor Kirk Caldwell received more than $47,000 in late contributions during the last two weeks, followed by former Gov. Ben Cayetano who received more than $22,000.

Mayor Peter Carlisle took in more than $12,000 in late contributions.

With the latest batch of contributions, Cayetano's campaign has raised a total of $961,000,making him the leading fundraiser for the mayoral race. Caldwell has raised more than $865,000 while Carlisle has taken in more than $570,000.

Saturday is the primary election date. If one of these candidates gets more than 50 percent of the vote, they will the race outright. If not, there will be a run off election in November.
