JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM (HawaiiNewsNow) - The world's largest international maritime training exercise starts Friday in Hawaii.

Officials say 25,000 personnel from more than 20 countries will participate in the Rim of the Pacific Exercise, also known as RIMPAC.

The biannual event runs now through Aug. 3.

Military ships will arrive to Honolulu throughout the day.

Residents living near the Pearl Harbor-Hickam base can expect increased aircraft noise until the exercise is complete.
