Dalai Lama visits Bishop Museum & Iolani Palace

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Before Saturday's talk, the Dalai Lama spent the morning visiting landmarks around town.

He stopped over at the Bishop Museum where he was greeted by students from Aha Punana Leo O Honolulu.

In a short speech, the Dalai Lama urged the Native Hawaiian community to preserve their culture, language, and environment.

"Sometimes people believe we can control nature, we are above nature. That's wrong. Our survival depends on nature, so respect nature and protect nature", said the Dalai Lama.

After his visit to the museum, he took a tour of Iolani Palace.
