Thousands line Kalakaua Avenue for annual Kuhio Day parade

WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Thousands enjoyed a spirited celebration in honor of a prince Saturday morning.

The 9th annual Kuhio Day parade took place in Waikiki.

Floats and marching bands cruised down Kalakaua Avenue to the Kapi'olani Park bandstand.

State and city workers have the day off on Monday.

Prince Kuhio was instrumental in passing the Hawaiian Homelands Act.
