Water Main Break, High Surf, Dull Tradewinds

TRAFFIC ALERT: Board of Water Supply crews are responding to an 8-inch water main break fronting 756 Mokulua Drive in the Lanikai area. Approximately 40 customers are affected by this break; a water wagon will be positioned near the break site to provide water for affected customers. HIGH SURF ADVISORY: will take effect at 6 a.m. for the north and west shores of Kauai, Niihau and Oahu, and the north shores of Molokai and Maui. Peak surf heights for the north shore will be just above the advisory level at 10 to 16 feet. Get the latest by clicking here.

FORECAST: Just one more day of dull tradewind weather, with more showers for windward areas, along with abundant leeward sunshine. There will be more clouds and showers possible Thursday as an upper trough and cold front move into the neighborhood. More active winter weather is on the horizon, with the possibility of Kona weather conditions (rain and southwest winds) for Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Tuesday.

DEVELOPING STORY: Not much rest for the Republican presidential candidates after the New Hampshire primary. Last night's winner, Mitt Romney, and his GOP rivals plan to campaign in South Carolina today. Its primary is Jan. 21. And Florida's contest is 10 days after that.
