Police investigating coffee berry tree thefts

KAU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Big Island police are investigating coffee tree thefts reported in Kau.

According to officials, one or more suspects entered a property near Old Cane Haul Road above Pahala.

From Dec. 9 to 11, between 2,000 to 4,000 pounds of coffee cherries were stripped from the trees.

Officials say the damages are estimated at about $6,000.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call police.
