HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Honolulu police sergeant accused of fraudulently collecting overtime pay will have his fate decided by 12 jurors. A District Court judge on Wednesday sent Aaron Bernal's case up to Circuit Court, and set his arraignment for October 24th.
Prosecutors say the sergeant collected overtime by claiming in police reports that he was present at DUI roadblocks even when he was not. He's charged with conspiracy to commit theft, and multiple counts of tampering with a government record.
Another sergeant and two officers are also awaiting trial.
