WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) - The much-anticipated season two launch of Hawaii Five-0 is just days away, but Saturday night thousands in Waikiki were the first in the world to watch the premiere episode.

Season two of Hawaii Five-0 began with another red carpet roll-out, bigger and better than last year.

"This is kind of a testament to how all of us here in Hawaii feel about Hawaii Five-0 and I'm thrilled" said Alex O'Loughlin who plays Steve McGarrett on the show.

Grace Park who plays Kono Kalakaua said, "Last year there was a lot of anticipation people didn't know what to expect there was tons of hype, it was great, now people know what they are getting and like what they are seeing"

Hawaii News Now's Sunset on the Beach special showcased the lead actors, new cast members, and many guest stars.

Daniel Dae Kim has been on many red carpets before but never like this.

"7 years and never been to a premiere like this" said Kim.

Much of the excitement had to do with the fans who came by the thousands some from as far away as Australia. Many waiting since predawn for the perfect spot on the sand.

"Oh my God, I took a picture with him."

"We started a Hawaii Five-0 Club because we love the show so much so it's a real honor to be here" said Brandon Pollack who was visiting from Dayton Ohio.

Never the one to mince words, Scott Caan said told us he likes season two even more.

Governor Neil Abercrombie proclaimed Saturday Hawaii Five-0 day. With every scene shot here, CBS execs call it the most local show in the world and judging from the turnout, the locals love it.
