HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – The majority of testimony at a public hearing Monday was in opposition to a Board of Water Supply proposal to increase water rates by 70% over the next five years.

After hearing the testimony the water board declined to vote on the proposal indicating that some board members think the proposed rate hikes are too steep. Board chairman said it is likely board members will ask Board of Water Supply management to revise its proposal when the board meets again in late September.
