Water rate hike hearing scheduled for Monday

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The public will get a chance to sound off on a proposed water rate hike on Monday.

The Board of Water Supply wants to increase rates 70 percent over five years.

The money would be used to upgrade its system with new pipes, wells and at least two reservoirs.

The public hearing begins at 2 p.m. at the Board of Water Supply public service building on Beretania Street.
