LIHUE (HawaiiNewsNow) - Crews with Kauai County's Solid Waste division will be delivering new refuse carts over the course of the next four weekends.
Residents should be aware that the next phase of the automated refuse collection program will begin next month.
Residents should continue to use regular trash bins for refuse pickup until the automated collection program begins.
An estimated 6,500 households in Anahola, Kapaa, Kapahi, Waliua Homesteads, and part of Hanamaulu will be converted to the automated refuse program.
County officials say that brochures explaining how the program works will be attached to the new refuse carts. The county says the schedule for rubbish pickup may change starting Sept. 5 even for those not yet converting to the automated system.
