Honolulu (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rotary Club of Mililani Sunrise and the Mililani Hongwanji is sponsoring a "Inter-Generational Hanafuda Tournament", a benefit for the Mililani High School Project Grad 2012.
Playing hanafuda is a dying tradition in Hawaii and a lot of the most avid players have past on or are too old and the young ones don't know hanafuda. Another requirement is that team partners have to be 20 years apart in age---and that has been causing a lot of difficulties because people of different generations don't play together much any more.
Saturday, July 23, 2011 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Mililani Hongwanji, 95-257 Kaloapau St. (Next to Rec. Center III)
Registration, lessons & practice begin at 8:30 a.m.
Double Elimination Tournament begins 10:00 a.m.
