HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - "The Party Girl Diet" book shows readers how to enjoy a wide variety of delicious foods and lose weight at the same time. Author Aprilanne Hurley demonstrates just how easy it is with her recipes for Hawaiian kabobs, confetti hash and her famous "super skinny fudge." She also created a special drink, just for Sunrise!
Aprilanne Hurley will be signing copies of "The Party Girl Diet" at Kahala Whole Foods Market this Saturday, June 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Part of the proceeds will benefit the Hawaii Foodbank.
Recipes courtesy of Aprilanne Hurley:
In a drink shaker filled with ice combine the following ingredients and shake vigorously:
- 4 oz. – Pineapple Juice (replaces Tequila)
- 4 oz. - Orange Juice
- Juice of ½ a fresh lime
Pour into chilled Martini, Hurricane, or Highball glasses
Pour a splash of pomegranate juice slowly down inside – side of glass. Do not stir! Drink colors will resemble the colors of a sunrise! Garnish with fresh orange slices and/or fresh cherries, and a colored drinking straw – Enjoy!
Fill a highball glass 2/3 with crushed ice.
Pour half of the pineapple juice (or all of the tequila if making alcoholic version). Fill about halfway to the top with orange juice.
Add splash of lime juice or squeeze half a fresh lime into the glass.
Fill glass with the remaining pineapple juice.
Stir the contents.
Pour a splash of pomegranate juice along one side (Do not pour on top of drink – the pomegranate is denser and will fall to the bottom to form the "sunrise effect"). Also, do not stir the drink after adding the pomegranate prior to serving. Once you start drinking it, it will mix. Enjoy!
