Spending Commission fines 2 state lawmakers
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The State Campaign Spending Commission has fined two Hawaii lawmakers.
State Representative Karen Awana, a Democrat representing west Oahu, was hit with a $1,900 fine for five counts of either failing to file or filing late campaign spending reports.
The Commission also fined Rep. Mele Carroll, a Democrat representing Lanai and Molokai. She will pay more than $2,600 for not filing six campaign spending reports by the reporting deadlines.
