HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow)  – The APEC 2011 Hawaii Host Committee announced on Monday the appointments of Tim Johns as executive vice chair, Randy Tanaka as chief operating officer, and Jasmine Tso as director of marketing and promotions.

As executive vice chair, Johns will oversee strategic planning issues and communications between the state and county governments, visitor industry and Neighbor Islands. Tanaka and Yamanaka will report directly to Johns.

Tanaka will continue in his role as assistant general manager of the Hawaii Convention Center, but will be dedicated full-time to the Hawaii Host Committee to serve as COO.

Tso will manage and coordinate all marketing, advertising and promotional activities, as well as create strategic messaging and promotional opportunities for Hawaii's private-sector and community involvement in APEC 2011 events.

The APEC 2011 Leaders' Week will take place in Honolulu on November 7–13 with the Leaders' Meeting held on November 12 and 13, and is the culmination of a series of events held throughout the year in the United States. The Leaders' Meeting is expected to attract approximately 20,000 attendees including the leaders of the 21 APEC economies, ministers, business leaders and news media.
