Brown water advisory issued; sewage spills reported

WINDWARD OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The murky waters stretching all along the windward coast has forced the state to issue a brown water advisory all the way from Waikane to Haleiwa Beach Park.
The public is being advised to stay out of the water, due to chemicals, pesticides, and other fecal matter that may be hazardous.
In addition, officials are also urging people to stay out of Kaneohe Bay after two wastewater spills were reported.
The first happened just before 10:00 Saturday night on Mikiola Drive.
About 1,400 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled into Kaneohe Bay.
The second happened at the Kaneohe Treatment Plant where an estimated 30,000 gallons were discharged.
The affected areas have been cleaned and signs have been posted.
