WAIPAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Thousands of people took part in a massive cleanup Saturday across Oahu. Volunteers from the Mormon Helping Hands program picked up trash at 39 city and state parks.

At the Waipahu Cultural Gardens, nearly 200 people helped out, removing bulky items from the road in the back of the low rise apartment. One of the volunteers, Fae Holakeituail, said, "From toys to beds to clothing to, we even found a bag of marinated chicken. Whatever you could think of we probably got it through this."

Every year, hundreds of thousands of volunteers in the Mormon Church around the world, collectively donate millions of hours of service to their communities.
