Convoy helps lay 'Smitty' to rest

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Francis Kuakini "Smitty" Smith, 55, of Waipahu, an Army National Guard retiree and a city road maintenance division employee, was laid to rest Wednesday at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl.

Smitty worked for the city for almost 30 years and a convoy of about 30 trucks ranging from dump trucks to cement trucks escorted his body to the graveside.

Smitty died at home.

He was born in Honolulu and is survived by wife April H.; daughter Dawnne T.K.; brother George K.; and sisters Virginia Apaisa, Rolanda DeLude, Daveana "Anna" Medeiros and Rosette Smith.
