Good Things: October 6, 2010

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...

It looks like a whole, new wave of New Orleans Saints fans will soon be born. Doctors in the city say they are experiencing a "mini-baby boom" as pregnancy numbers have skyrocketed. They are unsure of the exact cause, but here's one observation.. if you talk to people who are expecting children, many of them are huge Saints fans. You may remember, the team won the Superbowl and fans did a lot of celebrating about 9 months ago. As for the most popular names in the city? Payton, Hartley, Sean and of course Drew.. which just happens to be the name of the Saints quarterback, Drew Brees.

Some worldwide recognition for the University of Hawaii at Manoa. The school is ranked 115th out of the top 200 learning institutions on earth. The ranking was done by the British magazine and website "Times Higher Education." U-H Manoa was chosen among the elite, based on 5 categories- learning environment, research, influence, innovation and international mix of staff and students. The university is ranked 58th in America and 20th among our nation's public institutions of higher education. This is the first time U-H Manoa has made the list.
