Good Things: September 17, 2010

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...

Eating and amusement park rides aren't always a good combination. But it's catching on in Europe. If you want to eat out and up, you can have "Dinner in the Sky." Organizers lay out your sumptuous meal, then lift your entire dinner party 164 feet above the ground. And now, a new even bigger platform has been created to include more tables, more chefs and even musicians.

Some students in Indiana have accomplished quite a feat. They have collected more than a million soda can tabs to help the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Ronald McDonald personally thanked the students at school today for their contribution, which can be recycled for cash. A teacher started the project more than a decade ago. Many of the children who participated at the beginning are now in high school or college.

And in South Dakota, 2 miners hit the jackpot.. uncovering the largest piece of gold found in the last 120 years. The nugget weighs 5 1/4 ounces. The prospectors sold it to a businessman who lent it to a local museum for display. The chunk is said to be worth about $4,000.
