Good Things: September 6, 2010

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Let's take a look at some of the Good Things in the news...

A proud day for Mexico this morning as the world record for the longest taco was set in Mexico City over the weekend. The 130 foot long taco set a new record for the longest taco ever prepared in the country. The mega record brought together 38 restaurants and hundreds of cooks to build the taco. The Long Taco Challenge kicks off a 10 day festival that celebrates this symbol of Mexican culture.

And no, it's not Halloween just yet, but the zombies in the Midwest got a head start.. and it was all for a good cause. More than 400 zombies slowly shuffled through downtown South Bend, Indiana in a sidewalk parade to raise food for the local Food Bank. Organizers said they collected more than 600 pounds of food before the parade.

And today is the last day to beam up to the world's largest sci-fi and pop culture convention in Atlanta. The 24th Annual "Dragon Con" brings together "Trekkis" with Dungeons and Dragon Masters all in one place. Besides the joy of becoming a Klingon, there will be panel discussions about multi-media advances and other diverse topics. The event also raises funds for the Lupus Foundation of America. This year there will even be a Miss Star Trek Universe Contest.
