Jonathan Jared Saupe
Anchor, 'This Is Now'
Jonathan Jared Saupe is the co-host of 'This Is Now,' Hawaii News Now's mid-day newscast, and content creator for the station's digital team.
'This Is Now' is streamed live at 12 p.m. every weekday on the Hawaii News Now Facebook page, website, mobile app and on KHNL. The newscast is also published to the station’s YouTube page and audio podcast platforms.
‘This Is Now’ looks noticeably different than a typical news program. The show is presented live from the HNN Digital Center in a laid back, behind-the-scenes format, with a focus on breaking news and the big viral stories of the day.
“If you’re talking about it, we’re talking about it,” says Jonathan, who also acts as the show’s producer and director.
Jonathan has called downtown Honolulu his home for nearly a decade. He has received multiple awards for his coverage of the Kilauea eruption and Mauna Kea protests.
He has worked at television stations across the country, including WSIL in Illinois, where he got his start at the age of 16.
Jonathan has had also had stints at KFVS in Missouri and KOLD in Arizona, producing a number of special projects and live severe weather and breaking news events, such as the tragic shooting of Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.
He has worked at Hawaii News Now since 2011, in a number of different roles.
