HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Thousands of people — businesses, organizations, community groups, and spectators — spread love through Waikīkī Saturday as part of the 2026 Honolulu Pride Parade.

Marchers, floats and vehicles made their way from Magic Island at Ala Moana and down Kalākaua Avenue in Hawaiʻi’s largest celebration of the queer community.

Michael Golojuch Jr. served as one of the parade’s grand marshals, along with Michael Cabagbag and Peter Hessler.

Golojuch was accompanied by his mother, Carolyn, a former grand marshal herself.

“It’s amazing to be here, to be here with my mother, following in her footsteps, and continuing the fight for justice and equality for everybody,” Golojuch said.

Golojuch said support for Hawaii’s LGBTQIA+ community has grown over the years.

“It’s amazing to see how the community has embraced us... which we did not have back in the day,” he said, “Pride means that we’re here, we’re accepted, and we’re part of the community, and people recognize who we are. We’re allowed to be who we are without fear.”

Hessler added, “It wasn’t always something we were necessarily proud of growing up. But now that we’re here in this festival and we’ve created such welcoming queer spaces that we’re so honored to be here in the Pride Parade and just celebrating who we are.”

Hawaii News Now was proud to be the broadcast partner, tracking the festivities live from various points along the route.

“It is so incredibly important because this is our community, and so being able to reflect our community, share such a joyful day with all those people who can’t be here themselves — that’s what we do,” said HNN General Manager Katie Pickman. “We capture the stories of Hawaii, and we shine the light on all of our community and some of the most important parts of our community, like today.”
