HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Round three of the 2022 Lotte Championship wrapped up at the Hoakalei Country Club as Punahou’s Allisen Corpuz put on a show.

It’s no secret that Corpuz feels right at home at Hoakalei, the Kapolei native growing up just one city over, playing in similar blistery and windy conditions that the rest of the field have had to play in all week.

Corpuz started the day off at 2-under par and got off to a hot start under the Ewa Beach sun.

She slowly made her way up the leader board through the front nine, at one point tied for fifth place before making the turn.

The former BuffanBlu would birdie four holes, get a par on four more to go along with one bogey on the front nine.

“I played really solid out there, I mean I had a really good front nine and then hit a couple bumps on the back nine.” Corpuz told reporters following the round.

On the back nine, Corpuz would start to struggle, misreading the wind which started picking up late in the afternoon, causing her to bogey four of her holes in the final stretch of play.

“Yeah I think it’s really about staying patient, I mean I didn’t really play much worse throughout that stretch just kind of made a couple of missed judgments with the wind and stuff.” Corpuz said. “So really just kind of telling myself like finish strong.”

Despite the up and down play at the turn, Corpuz would birdie on the 18th to finish the day even and 2-under par overall.

Throughout the round, the local girl was followed by a large gallery that cheered her on all afternoon.

“Yeah it’s really awesome, I mean this is the first time actually that a couple of my like aunts and uncles have been able to watch me play.” Corpuz said. “So really special to have family out here and just have a lot of local support.”

Corpuz even taking time to sign autographs and take pictures the second she got off the last green.

“It really does feel like a full circle moment.” Corpuz said. “I mean I remember the first (LOTTE Championship) that I came out to, I still have a picture of me and Morgan Pressel from when I was like six years old, so really special to be able to kind of give back and be on the other side of it.”

South Korea’s Hyo Joo Kim maintains her lead going into the final round.

The final round of the 2022 LOTTE Championship is set to go Saturday at Hoakalei Country club.

Round four pairings and start times to be released before Saturday.
