First responders locate body of diver who went missing in waters off Kauai

Police are investigating after a man was found with multiple stab wounds at a Kalihi bus stop.

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - First responders said they have located the body of a man who went missing in waters off Kauai early Friday morning.

Officials said a 28-year-old visitor went diving off Nawiliwili at around 3:30 a.m.

The Coast Guard said at around 6 a.m. the man was found 50 to 60 yards off shore by helicopter.

A Coast Guard cutter then recovered man and administered first aid and resuscitation efforts. He was then transported to the Coast Guard station at Nawiliwili where medics continued treatment and transported him to the Wilcox Hospital emergency room.

Officials said the man was pronounced dead at around 7:45 a.m.

Police said his identity will remain confidential until family members have been properly notified.

Multiple agencies, including Kauai police, fire and lifeguards assisted in the search.
