HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A worker was injured after he fell through the roof of Hilo’s KTA Supermarket Thursday morning.

County fire officials say it happened around 10:30 a.m. at the store along East Puainako Street.

A witness says the worker crashed down on some store shelves and landed on his back.

Authorities said the man refused treatment at the scene and was able to go to the Hilo Medical Center to be checked out on his own.

Details surrounding the moments that led up to the fall are unclear. Fire crews patched the roof with a tarp.
