Hawaii Island police identify man killed after car crashed, burst into flames

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii Island police have identified the man killed following a fiery crash in Puuanahulu on Thursday night.

Authorities said 27-year-old Andrew Charles Clark of Honokaa was speeding when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. near MM 17 on Mamalahoa Highway. Police said the truck rolled over and burst into flames, sparking a small brush fire.

Officials closed the roadway between Daniel K. Inouye Highway and Makalei Drive following the crash. It has since been reopen.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

The incident remains under investigation.
