Hawaii gas prices ease, but global trends still higher
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Gas prices fell across Hawaii over the weekend, but crude oil kept rising, suggesting higher retail prices ahead.
Honolulu average regular, measured daily by AAA, fell to $4.99 Sunday before settling at $5.00 Monday morning.
Average regular fell to $5.12 in Hilo, $5.20 in Kahului and $5.26 in Lihue.
Price declines ranged from a penny on Kauai to a dime on Maui.
California prices kept rising, as average regular in Los Angeles jumped to $5.99, overtaking San Francisco at $5.92 a gallon.
Las Vegas average regular rose to $5.19 Monday, so its prices still topped Honolulu and Hilo.
U.S. benchmark crude kept rising over the weekend, topping $110 a barrel Monday, as the EU considered adopting an outright ban on Russian oil.
