HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - What a day in Hawaii Nei! Trade winds remain somewhat suppressed in the light to moderate range. This pattern will continue into most of Friday. At times the sea breeze will build in during the afternoon. These sea breezes have produced low clouds and limited areas of showers across sheltered leeward terrain, while windward rainfall has been scant today. Expect leeward clouds and showers to diminish rapidly this evening from Kauai to Maui, while conditions across leeward Big Island will be slow to clear. Windward slopes of all islands will have a chance of showers tonight. Aside from thin high clouds over the eastern end of the state, a sharp upper level trough overhead will have little impact, and mid level ridging is forecast to remain strong enough to maintain an inversion that will inhibit any heavy showers.
