Hawaii reports one new COVID death; vaccination rate stands at 54%

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii reported one new COVID fatality on Friday, pushing the death toll from the virus in the islands to 506.

Meanwhile, there were 78 new cases statewide.

So far, the state said it has administered 1,592,739 vaccine doses. Some 54% of all residents are fully vaccinated while 60% have gotten at least one dose.

The new cases brings the total number of infections in Hawaii since the pandemic began to 36,871.

Of the new cases, 33 were on Oahu, 30 on Hawaii Island, and 10 on Maui. There were also five residents diagnosed out-of-state.

Over the last 14 days, DOH says there have been 736 new cases throughout the state.
