HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 45-year-old man was critically injured in a moped crash near Ala Moana Center on Thursday morning, Honolulu police said.
Police said the moped rider was heading east on Kona Street around 4:30 a.m. That’s when he hit a curb and lost control of his moped.
He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time, according to Emergency Medical Services.
Speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, police said.
Officers shut down both directions of Kona Street, but lanes have since been reopened.
