Stronger trades heading into the weekend

Moderate trade wind are blowing over the islands as high pressure builds far to the north-northwest. The winds will bring some passing light showers for windward and mauka areas, mainly during the overnight and morning hours. Remnants of a front will pass through the islands Saturday night through Monday, bringing an increase in clouds and showers, again favoring windward and mauka areas. Trade winds will become rather strong over some areas by Sunday.

At the beach, elevated surf will hold for north and west shores on Friday before lowering for the weekend. Surf along south shores will ease through Friday and remain small through the weekend as well. East shore surf will remain small through Saturday, and then build Sunday into Monday with the strengthening trade winds.
