Man dead after being pulled from Hawaii Island’s Lekeleke Bay

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - A man is dead after he was pulled from waters off Hawaii Island Saturday afternoon.
Around 3 p.m., emergency crews were dispatched to Kailua-Kona’s Lekeleke Bay, a spot also known as ‘End of the World.’
Officials said two swimmers were in the water when they became distressed. One of the swimmers made it to shore with minor injuries.
The second swimmer, an unidentified male between 30 and 40 years old, was spotted unresponsive, face down in the water.
Chopper 2 was used to extract the man from the water and bring him to shore to awaiting paramedics. He was later pronounced dead.
His identity has not yet been released.
