HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Community support for a local celebrity has poured in over the last few days, quickly surpassing a fundraising goal.

Maili resident William Vaana is known for his striking resemblance to the animated character Maui from the movie Moana.

Several days ago, Hawaii News Now reported that Vaana was facing significant medical challenges. He suffered strokes and was recently diagnosed with a rare brain disease called Moyamoya.
