HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warriors basketball team were edged by Cal State Bakersfield on Friday night, in a narrow 60-55 defeat at the Stan Sheriff Center.

It was a long night for the ‘Bows, after only making 5 of their 25 3-point attempts, while giving up 16 turnovers in their first home game of the season against a Division I opponent.

Those five made 3-pointers only coming in the second half, as UH trailed 28-23 going into the break. Late in the game Hawaii tied things up at 50, but the Roadrunners would not let up and seal their victory, 60-55.

UH’s Junior Madut was the bright spot for the ‘Bows, getting himself a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds — both team highs.

UH and the ‘Runners meet again on Saturday to complete their two-game series, tip off from Manoa is set for 7 p.m. Hawaii time.
